Welcome to Edunuova, a space where I bring together my passions for languages, mathematics, and education. It is my personal laboratory, notebook, and classroom combined: a place where ideas are explored, curiosity is encouraged, and learning becomes something to experience rather than simply something to memorize.
A little about me
My name is Bianca. I am Dutch, but I grew up in the French-speaking part of Belgium, while my parents are Dutch. Living between two languages from an early age shaped the way I see communication and sparked a lifelong curiosity about languages, cultures, and the ways people express themselves.
Over the years, that curiosity grew into a passion. Through experiences abroad -including a semester living in Rome- I developed the ability to communicate in Dutch, French, English, Italian, and German. I am currently also learning Spanish and Swedish.
What drives me and fuels my passion for learning languages is the opportunity to experience life from a slightly different angle, to look at the world through another lens. To me, languages are far more than tools for communication. They are different ways of trying to grasp reality -both the world around us and the inner worlds of our thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Every language offers its own approach to understanding and expressing that reality. Each one has developed its own structures, nuances, rhythms, and ways of capturing ideas. Some concepts have a precise word or expression in one language, while another language may need a longer explanation or may not have an exact equivalent at all. This is what makes languages so fascinating: they each reveal something unique about how humans perceive and interpret the world. Every language has its own character, weight, colour, and personality. French, for example, has an incredible richness of nuance and an expressive softness that allows it to convey subtle emotions and ideas. Dutch may sometimes sound more direct or robust, but it has its own charm: full of playful expressions, surprising idioms, and a certain humour that gives the language its unique character. Learning a language is therefore not simply learning new words. It is discovering a different way of seeing, feeling, and organizing reality. It means entering another perspective, another culture, and sometimes discovering another version of yourself..
What drives me
My twenties have been a journey of exploration, searching for what truly brings me fulfillment. What I have discovered is this: I am drawn to beauty. Not only in art (I am also a photographer), but in ideas, structures, patterns, and expression. This is what connects my passions for languages and mathematics. At first glance, they may seem like very different fields, but to me they share something fundamental: both reveal hidden structures and offer unique ways of understanding the world. Languages are full of depth, colour, and character. Every word carries a history, every sentence has a rhythm, and every language offers its own perspective. Mathematics has its own kind of beauty. Behind formulas and abstract concepts are patterns, creativity, elegance, and surprising connections. The more I explore both fields, the more fascinated I become. On this website, I teach languages with that sense of wonder. I focus on an immersive approach, learning through context, music, meaningful texts, and anything that resonates. My goal is not just to teach you a language, but to help you experience it.
Teaching languages
I currently teach Dutch to expats here in Utrecht, and I truly enjoy doing so. I love meeting people from different cultures and learning about their stories, perspectives, and ways of thinking. I’ve had the privilege of teaching students from all over the world: Ukraine, Syria, Guatemala, Iran, France, Italy, Mexico, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, England, and beyond. Teaching, for me, is never one-sided. While I help my students learn a new language, they constantly teach me about their cultures and experiences. That exchange is what makes it so meaningful. Alongside Dutch, I also teach French here in Utrecht, which I enjoy just as much. French is a language that I find incredibly beautiful: rich, expressive, and full of nuance. I love guiding students through it, helping them hear its rhythm and understand its depth. One of the things I especially enjoy is translating and exploring the work of artists like Jacques Brel, as well as other French poetry. These texts reveal just how stunning and moving the language can be.
Teaching mathematics
Although languages are a deep passion of mine, my academic background is in mathematics. After completing my bachelor’s degree and first master’s degree, I started working in a 9-to-5 job. While I valued that experience, I increasingly felt drawn towards work where I could have a direct impact, connect with people, and share my passion for learning. After three years, I decided to return to university and pursue a second master’s degree in mathematics education, which I completed cum laude. This allowed me to combine my mathematical background with a deeper understanding of how people learn. Alongside my studies, I spent many years tutoring mathematics privately and later taught mathematics in a high school. Through these experiences, I noticed that many students approach mathematics with fear or insecurity. Often, this is not because of mathematics itself, but because of the way it is experienced: as a collection of procedures and formulas to memorize, rather than as a creative and meaningful way of thinking. In high school, I experienced firsthand the challenges of a fast-paced curriculum, where there is often limited time to explore concepts deeply and develop genuine understanding. I believe mathematics has much more to offer than simply finding the correct answer. It is about recognizing patterns, asking questions, making connections, and learning to think creatively. To share this perspective, I started recording mathematics explanations and lessons for Edunuova. My students found these resources valuable, as they could revisit difficult concepts at their own pace and develop a stronger understanding of the ideas behind the mathematics. Through Edunuova, I want to present mathematics in a different way: accessible, engaging, and meaningful. My goal is to help students move beyond memorization and discover the creativity, beauty, and curiosity that lie at the heart of mathematics.
